The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency
Janice Dickerson is a 50-ish, former supermodel who was famous for burning the candle at both ends. She is a single mother of a 20-something son and school age daughter. Janice has written a few books about her "excesses," has appeared on MTV's The Surreal Life but is more well known for being a judge on Tyra Bank's America's Next Top Model reality TV show.
Janice left Top Model to do other things, among them, star in her own reality show. In The Janice Dickerson Modeling Agency, Janice is going to recruit models and then get them hired in real job and supposedly generate income for business. The show currently airs on The Oxygen Network cable channel.
A promotion agency in New York had the assignment to create a "Janice Dickerson Modeling Agency" storefront display as part of the New York publicity campaign. It is just a decorated storefront, where aspiring models can drop of their headshots and portfolios through the mail slot.
Part of the display design called for a "doorbell" that dispensed Janice's favorite insults and witticisms, including her famous, "I've got two words for you...OUT!" and "I've seen better skin on a crocodile." among others. That is where I came in. The Agency approached me to build this device and build it quick, then go to the New York City SOHO location and install the box. The unit needed to be self-contained, battery powered and be installable without major disruption to the building and entrance. I came up with this device.
