Bach Model 6 Trombones
Bach Model 6 VII - Serial Number 2266 - 1945
This is the newer of the two instruments. The serial number places it as 19453 production. This horn has a "VII" designation. I can't find anything on the Web about this model designation. This horn plays great and belies it's age. It has a 7 inch bell and a 0.495 inch bore. It is very bright and very loud and is a great lead horn. The slide is lightweight and the small size of the horn makes the whole horn very lightweight. There are some refinements from the 1933 model: a slide lock and a thinner rolled edge on the bell. The playing characteristics are: loud, bright, sure and slots peddle tones better than a bass trombone. No wonder Pryor like this size horn. This is not a small sounding instrument.
Digital photos and flash make the finish look much more uneven then it is.
This horn does not have a single dent.
This picture shows the evenness of the finish.
What is the designation "VII?"
Not a ding on the bell. The most wear on this horn is on the top of the
slide.
The inner slides are perfect. This is not the original case. It's a
'Mount Vernon" case.
